Martin Nagy

Martin Nagy, born in 1961, first received a solo engagement at the Eduard von Wintherstein Theater in Annaberg-Buchholz after studying school music (majoring in violin and voice), lied and opera in Stuttgart. His most important teachers were Bruce Abel and Ernst Poettgen, later Douglas Hines and Friederike Lamparter. Courses with Nicolai Gedda and Ernst Haefliger completed his studies. Since 1994 he has been a freelance opera and concert singer.

 

Song recitals with the pianist Ira Maria Witoschynskyj. Together with her and other singers he has made numerous radio and CD recordings, including »Lieder und Arien aus Dresden« (Ars Produktion, conception Joachim Draheim), as well as a premiere recording of the reconstructed opera fragment »Adrast« by Franz Schubert.

 

As a founding member, Martin Nagy has now been tenor of the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart for 38 years, with whom he has made concert tours to more than 25 European countries, North and South America, Russia, Egypt, China and Japan, initially under the conductor Manfred Schreier, and since 2000 as an independent chamber ensemble.

In addition, many years of teaching activity at the Stuttgart Music School, also in the context of study preparation.
