Estreilla Besson

Influenced by poetry, philosophy and music, Estreilla Besson developed an interdisciplinary artistic approach from an early age.

Estreilla Besson studied classical piano and jazz before turning her attention to conducting. She completed her conducting studies at the Robert Schumann University of Music in Düsseldorf in February 2025.

As a conductor and composer, she develops projects that blend composition, improvisation, text, video and dance, and also performs as a pianist and improviser.

From 2021 to 2024, she was supported by the European network ULYSSES as an emerging conductor in the field of contemporary music.

Most recently, she assisted Peter Rundel at the Casa da Música in Porto as part of the Remix Ensemble Academy, including on Helmut Lachenmann’s *Concertini*, and conducted Hector Parra’s *La Mort i la Primavera* for two orchestras and two conductors alongside him.
She subsequently worked with Peter Rundel and the SWR Vocal Ensemble at the Klang21 Festival in Salzburg.

She is currently an assistant to Léo Warynski and the vocal ensemble Les Métaboles. As part of this role, she collaborates with, amongst others, the Orchestre de la Garde républicaine and the Orchestre national de Metz Grand Est.

Estreilla Besson sees conducting contemporary music as both an artistic and a social mission: to create spaces for curiosity and shared listening, to break down preconceptions, and to open up new ways of engaging with the music of our time.
