Crisis upon crisis upon crisis: the world is experiencing meta-crises, and the composer and her librettist, Austrian writer Raphaela Edelbauer (a digital native through and through), take aim at social media as a contributing factor. The librettist’s play with media oversaturation, overload and fragmentation into aphoristic minutiae is a perfect template for Margareta Ferek-Petrić, who had long had a vocal chamber music theatre for the Neuen Vocalsolisten in mind.

In the second part, a video narrative narrows the focus from the earth-shattering universal theme to seven very individual interpretations of post-Yugoslav experience.

Finally, the concentration: on the composition of a very personal yet horizon-broadening dialogue between two artists.

The narrative afternoon also refers to the main project of the evening, BALKAN AFFAIRS, which is artistically extremely diverse and highly exciting, opening eyes and hearts to the situation of Western Balkan societiesand also their large diaspora in Stuttgart.
