»Escalier du Chant« was created in 2011 for the large foyer staircase in the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich. Twelve international composers* were invited by Olaf Nicolai to compose songs for it with reference to political events.
In the context of the finissage of Olaf Nicolai’s exhibition »A light vapour emanating from bound matter as spirits running, along« at the Institut Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt, this work will again be staged, complemented by two newly commissioned compositions by Isabel Mundry and Margareta Ferek-Petric.
