The voice in contemporary music
Composition masterclass for voice solo and for chamber music with voices
July 18–30, 2018

The focus is on the exploration of contemporary vocal techniques as well as the interpretation of contemporary repertoire. The program will be complemented by familiarization with different forms of notation, analysis of authoritative vocal music scores, and collaborative development of vocal chamber music or chamber music for voice and instruments.

The workshop will include both the classical vocal repertoire (solo and ensemble) by, among others. by Georges Aperghis, Luciano Berio, Adriana Hölszky, Mauricio Kagel, György Kurtág, Giacinto Scelsi, Dieter Schnebel, Salvatore Sciarrino, Elliott Sharp, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Claude Vivier as well as the important works of the younger and youngest generation of composers such as Carola Bauckholt, Oscar Bianchi, Andreas Dohmen, Francesco Filidei, Clemens Gadenstätter, Mischa Käser, Sergej Newski, Christoph Ogiermann, Enno Poppe, Lucia Ronchetti, Rebecca Saunders, Benjamin Scheuer, Johannes Schöllhorn, Simon Steen-Andersen, Jennifer Walshe and others. Own solo repertoire is welcome.
