Whatever is left of the so-called piano song anno 2018, poems are still being read anew. Three composers read three strong texts by very different women. Where Dieter Schnebel chooses pictorially lyrical poems by Marie Luise Kaschnitz in 1994but musically questions the settingStefan Keller lets singer and pianist decipher the wording of Unica Zürn’s anagrammatic poetry together. Thomas Stiegler’s reading of notations by Prinzhorn patient Barbara Suckfüll respects her language as an attempt at communication from a closed but fascinating world. From the lyricist and composer Rozalie Hirs wordless »Five Meditations for piano« are heard, and at the beginning of the programon the occasion of Adriana Hölszky’s 65th birthday, her first work, four arrangements of Romanian folk songs.
