For almost six decades, Dieter Schnebel explored the artistic possibilities of the human voice before composing his »Utopias« for the Neue Vocalsolisten in 2014. Schnebel was not concerned in this music theater with »certain utopias or even with all of them«–that, he found as clear-sighted as it was modest, »would again be utopian.« Rather, he was concerned with »utopia in its essence. Dieter Schnebel also wanted to accompany this performance in the «Summer in Stuttgart” 2018 in conversation and was looking forward to the re-encounter with one of his great heart pieces. Now the performance must take place in memoriam. Dieter Schnebel died on Whitsunday 2018 in his adopted home Berlin.
